Ram extrusion

Dense, void-free semi-finished products from PTFE and PE 1000 – the process for materials that cannot be melted and moulded.

Ram extrusion

PTFE and ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene cannot be melted like other thermoplastics. In ram extrusion the powder is compacted in cycles and sintered; the result is round rods, tubes and sheets with homogeneous density and very good sliding properties.

The semi-finished products are then annealed and sawn or skived to size. For seals, bearings and chemically loaded applications this is the standard.

Tolerances, maximum dimensions and batch sizes are confirmed with the quotation.

Suitable materials

PTFE (virgin and filled), PE 1000 (UHMW-PE); modified PTFE grades on request.
