Description
PTFE-Teflon® Rods
The material PTFE (with the chemical name polytetrafluoroethylene, generally referred to as Teflon® or also MAFLON®) is a semi-crystalline fluoropolymer with many unique properties. We offer you PTFE as rod in various thicknesses and lengths cut to size.
This fluoropolymer offers exceptionally high thermal stability and chemical resistance as well as a high melting point (-200 to +260 degrees C, briefly also up to 300 degrees C).
PTFE products also have excellent sliding properties, very good electrical resistance and form a non-stick surface. In contrast to other plastics, however, they exhibit only low mechanical strength and a high specific density.
To improve the mechanical properties, PTFE plastics can be reinforced with additives such as glass fibres, carbon or bronze. Due to their structure, polytetrafluoroethylene is frequently formed into semi-finished products using compaction processes and then further processed with cutting/machining tools.

You have the option of choosing your rod cut from the dimensions min. 10 max. 2000 mm and ordering directly online at a low price around the clock.
What is PTFE?
PTFE, also known under the names Hostaflon, Teflon or Algoflon, describes the material polytetrafluoroethylene and is used when the construction material is subject to high requirements for temperature resistance, chemical resistance or low friction. As a semi-finished product such as tube, rod, sheet or film, PTFE can be further processed.
The food industry uses PTFE-coated glass fabric as frying / cooking and conveyor belts. The material is also used in the automotive supplier industry as a heating and conveyor belt in the production of interior door trim and free-form covering in the vehicle interior.
You can also find more on this at PTFE24 under what is PTFE? Of course, in addition to PTFE we also offer rod cuts of other materials, such as: POM-C rod cuts or PEEK rod cuts and many more. Teflon® is a registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company. MAFLON® is a registered trademark of Fa. Martan Plastik San. ic ve Dis Ltd. Sti./Istanbul/Türkiye.

Our PTFE rod offers you a perfect combination of high chemical resistance, thermal load capacity and excellent sliding properties. These properties make it an ideal choice for a wide range of industrial and technical applications. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a material that is distinguished by its universal applicability and extremely high resistance to chemicals.
Benefit from the excellent temperature resistance, which makes PTFE suitable for applications in ranges from -200 °C to +260 °C.** In addition to high temperature stability, the rod offers an outstanding anti-stick effect** – ideal for use in areas where materials must not adhere. The mechanical robustness and resistance to UV radiation are further advantages that distinguish PTFE.
Our PTFE rod is available in various diameters and lengths to meet the individual requirements of your application. Thanks to its versatility, you can rely on it offering an optimal solution for virtually any purpose.
Properties
PTFE-Teflon® materials have the following properties:
- Temperature resistance: Use from -200 °C to +260 °C
- Chemical resistance: High resistance to acids, alkalis and solvents
- Anti-stick effect: Extremely low coefficient of friction, hardly any adhesion
- High insulation: Outstanding electrical insulation properties
- Low water absorption: Virtually water-repellent, ideal for damp areas
Applications
The PTFE rod is used in many areas:
- Chemical industry: Production of seals, valve seats and chemically resistant components
- Food industry: Suitable as an anti-stick component in processing machines
- Electronics and electrical engineering: As insulation material due to the high dielectric strength
- Mechanical engineering: Use as a sliding element, bearing bushes or guides
Thanks to its unique material properties, the PTFE rod is ideal for all applications that place high demands on resistance and load capacity.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Is the PTFE rod approved for the food sector?
Yes, PTFE is physiologically harmless and can be used in the food industry, as it does not release any substances and is chemically inert.
How does PTFE behave at high temperatures?
PTFE is thermally stable up to +260 °C, but loses its mechanical strength at temperatures above this. It is advisable to keep the application range within the recommended temperature limits.
Is PTFE easy to machine?
Yes, PTFE can be machined by turning, milling or drilling. Due to its softness, however, care is required during machining in order to avoid damage.
