Development and production of technical parts from high-performance materials to customer requirements.
PTFE24's expertise lies in the development and manufacture of technical parts from high-performance materials to customer requirements. For many decades we have manufactured components and assemblies from materials such as PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), PEEK, PPS and also from elastomers.
We are a leading manufacturer and supplier of semi-finished products made from PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) as sheet, rod, hollow rod, film and woven tape, with production sites in Italy and Turkey. We deliver worldwide. Our manufacturing processes such as CNC milling, CNC turning, sawing, punching, waterjet cutting, CO2 laser cutting, cold and hot forming and coating enable our customers to procure without worry. Services such as the cut-to-size preparation and assembly of assemblies, warehousing and finally JIT deliveries round off our service.
Diverse manufacturing processes
As a leading manufacturer and supplier of semi-finished products made from PTFE, we offer a broad range of shapes and formats, including sheets, rods, hollow rods, films and woven tapes. Our production sites in Italy and Turkey ensure manufacture in the highest quality and delivery worldwide on schedule.
Our manufacturing processes include the most modern technologies, among them:
- CNC milling and CNC turning for the precise machining of complex geometries.
- Sawing and punching for the production of semi-finished products and tailor-made components.
- Waterjet cutting for exact cuts, particularly with complex contours or sensitive materials.
- CO2 laser cutting for the machining of fine structures.
- Cold and hot forming to produce specific moulded parts with high dimensional accuracy.
- Coating processes to optimise the surface condition of the parts, for example to improve chemical resistance or sliding properties.
These techniques enable us to offer our customers comprehensive and flexible manufacturing that meets the high requirements of the most diverse industries.
Cut-to-size preparation and logistics
In addition to manufacturing, we also offer services such as the cut-to-size preparation and assembly of assemblies. Our experts assemble individual parts into finished assemblies that are ready for immediate use. For many of our customers we also take over the warehousing of the parts and offer just-in-time deliveries (JIT) in order to optimise our partners' production processes. Our customer-oriented logistics ensure that the products are always available on time and in the desired quantity.
Quality standards and certifications
Our manufacturing processes are subject to strict quality controls. PTFE24 is certified to ISO9001:2015, which demonstrates the high quality of our products and services. We are proud that our products are used in numerous industries such as the chemical, pharmaceutical, food and semiconductor industries, where the highest quality standards are required.
Origin of PTFE – A technical miracle
PTFE, also known as polytetrafluoroethylene, was discovered in 1938 by the chemist Roy Plunkett. During his experiments in the search for new refrigerants for refrigerators, Plunkett found that tetrafluoroethylene (TFE) in his reaction vessel had polymerised into a wax-like, colourless substance. This substance, known today as PTFE, was distinguished by outstanding properties: it is virtually chemically inert, extremely temperature-resistant and has very low friction. Because of these unique properties, PTFE has since been used in a wide variety of applications – from aerospace to medical technology. (Source: Wikipedia)
Areas of application of PTFE and other high-performance plastics
Thanks to its outstanding properties, PTFE is used in many branches of industry. Some typical areas of application are:
- Seals and sealing rings in the chemical industry, as PTFE is resistant to virtually all chemicals.
- Plain bearings and sliding surfaces in machines, as PTFE has extremely low coefficients of friction and is therefore suitable for use in moving parts.
- Insulation material in the electronics and semiconductor industry, as PTFE has outstanding electrical insulating properties.
- Medical devices such as catheters or surgical instruments, as PTFE is biocompatible and can be sterilised.
In addition to PTFE, PTFE24 also uses other high-performance materials such as PEEK, PPS and elastomers, which also come into their own in demanding applications. These materials are distinguished by their high temperature resistance, chemical resistance and mechanical stability.
