Extruded PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic material with very good mechanical properties, including under thermal load. The material is also characterised by its high continuous service temperature of +260°C and its excellent resistance to radiation and chemicals. Good sliding properties and hydrolysis resistance round off the profile of this high-performance material and make it an almost universally applicable engineering material for parts subject to high thermal/mechanical loads. Thanks to its outstanding dimensional stability and high creep resistance, PEEK is suitable for the most demanding machined
parts.
Properties:
- very high temperature and heat deflection resistance
- high mechanical strength, rigidity and creep strength
- excellent chemical hydrolysis resistance
- excellent wear resistance
- good sliding properties
- very high dimensional stability
- low smoke development in the event of fire
- good electrical insulating properties
- favourable dielectric behaviour
- excellent resistance to high-energy radiation
- flame-retardant and self-extinguishing
Areas of application:
Electrical insulators and housings, wire and cable insulation, rotor arms, thrust washers and seals, piston seals, plain bearings, valve seats, bearing shells, gears, pump impellers, connectors and fittings in chromatography, column packings, components in medical applications, transport containers, semiconductor industry and many more.
