Block polymerisation
Block polymerisation, also known as mass polymerisation, is used for the primary shaping of polyamide semi-finished products. The polymerisation of caprolactam or laurolactam produces piece weights of up to 2.5 tonnes. This method improves the degree of polymerisation and the degree of crystallisation, which leads to better mechanical properties. In contrast to other polymerisation methods, the resulting cast polyamide does not have to be remelted in order to process it further.
