In through-feed centreless grinding, your workpieces are guided between the support, grinding wheel and regulating wheel.
Centreless cylindrical grinding is a proven machining technology that plays a decisive role in the production of precision workpieces. Particularly when processing high-performance plastics such as PTFE, PTFE/TFM, PEEK, ETFE, PFA and many others, perfect surface quality is essential.
This process enables the high-precision machining of plastic semi-finished products such as tubes, solid bars and rods, while ensuring optimum dimensional and shape accuracy.
With our state-of-the-art technology, we offer tailor-made solutions for centreless cylindrical grinding and set the highest standards in plastic machining. Whether small batches or large orders – we are your reliable partner for precision and quality.
Tailor-made solutions for centreless cylindrical grinding
We offer tailor-made solutions for the centreless cylindrical grinding of plastic semi-finished products. Our expertise enables the machining of workpieces with diameters from a minimum of 3.0 mm to a maximum of 100 mm and tolerances of ±0.03 mm. With a possible length of up to 3000 mm, we can cover a wide range of requirements and guarantee the highest precision. The precise and smoothing machining meets the highest demands on dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
The process of centreless through-feed grinding
Centreless through-feed grinding is characterised by its efficiency and precision. In this process, the workpiece is continuously guided between a support rail, a grinding wheel and a regulating wheel. The grinding wheel performs the material removal, while the rubber-bonded regulating wheel provides the feed through its inclination of 0.5° to 15°. This method is ideal for cylindrical parts without a shoulder, such as cylindrical pins, plastic rods or solid carbide bars.
Precision and surface quality through centreless grinding
Centreless cylindrical grinding is an external cylindrical grinding process that is used particularly when an extremely smooth surface quality is required. Conventional machining methods such as milling or turning often cannot achieve the same precision and fineness. In centreless grinding, the workpiece rests on a support rail between the grinding wheel and the regulating wheel, which ensures consistent diameter accuracy.
This process enables the machining of workpieces such as rods and tubes made of fluoroplastics, which are optimally prepared for further processing. The smooth surface and the high dimensional accuracy are decisive for many manufacturing processes in which centreless cylindrical grinding is indispensable as a base technology.
