Plastic machining for precise components and cut pieces
Plastic machining for industry and mechanical engineering: CNC milling, plastic turning, waterjet cutting, laser cutting and precision cut pieces from engineering plastics.
Plastic machining is the basis for precise semi-finished products, cut pieces and technical components made of plastic. We machine plastic sheets, plastic rods, milled parts, turned parts and other workpieces for industry, mechanical engineering and technical applications using material-appropriate processes.
If you would like to have plastics machined, you will receive from us precisely fitting solutions from cut to size through to the finished precision part. Whether CNC milling, drilling, turning, waterjet cutting, laser cutting or further plastics processing: we manufacture economically, with repeat accuracy and matched to material, tolerance and area of application.
What is meant by plastic machining?
Machining of plastics refers to all mechanical and thermal processes with which semi-finished products and plastic parts are brought into the desired shape. These include cuts to size, drilled holes, milled contours, turning, edge machining and further work steps that are required for ready-to-assemble or drawing-based components.
The decisive factor is always the combination of material, geometry and operating conditions. Depending on the requirement, we machine standard plastics, engineering plastics and high-performance plastics for individual parts, series and industrial applications.
Some examples of how plastics are machined
- Drilling: Exact holes for screw connections, fastenings and technical assemblies.
- CNC milling: Precise contours, pockets, cut-outs and technical geometries for functional components and drawing parts.
- Turning: Dimensionally accurate machining of rods and rotating components for bushes, rollers and turned parts.
- Laser cutting: Clean contours in suitable plastics, above all for thinner materials and filigree shapes.
- Waterjet cutting: Cold separation process for material-friendly cut pieces without heat influence.
- Edge and finishing: Deburring, adjustment and preparatory work steps for assembly-ready plastic parts.
Machine cutting to size for engineering plastics
Machine cutting to size is a central part of plastic machining. Sheets, rods and other semi-finished products are economically brought into shape using matched processes. This produces precise blanks and finished parts for mechanical engineering, jig and fixture construction, apparatus engineering and many other industrial applications.
Depending on the material, thickness and geometry, different processes are used. Waterjet cutting and laser cutting are particularly suitable for rectangular and complex contours. For tight tolerances, functional surfaces and technical details, further steps of plastic machining often follow.
CNC milling of plastics
In CNC milling, plastics are machined precisely with computer-controlled machines. This process is suitable for technical precision parts, milled contours, hole patterns, pockets and complex geometries. Especially with POM, PE, PA, PTFE or PVC, repeat-accurate results can be achieved for industrial applications.
Our CNC milled parts made of plastic are manufactured to drawing, dimensional specification or application profile. This is particularly relevant when functional surfaces, fits or economical series machining are required.
Having plastic turned
If you would like to have plastic turned, we machine rods and cylindrical workpieces precisely on modern lathes. This produces bushes, rollers, spacers and other turned parts with high dimensional accuracy and material-appropriate surface quality.
Turning is above all worthwhile for technical components with round geometries. You can find more on typical areas of application on our page for turned plastic parts.
What is waterjet cutting?
In waterjet cutting, a high-pressure water jet separates plastic sheets and other materials precisely and without thermal stress. The process is particularly material-friendly and is suitable for contours, cut-outs and cut pieces where heat input is to be avoided.
Especially with thicker or temperature-sensitive plastics, waterjet cutting is a sensible solution for achieving clean cut edges and reproducible results.
What is laser cutting?
Laser cutting is a precise separation process for suitable plastics and thinner material thicknesses. The laser enables filigree contours, small cut-outs and fast machining with recurring geometries. The decisive factor here is always the right choice of material so that cut quality and dimensional accuracy suit the application.
You can find out more about suitable applications and processes on our laser cutting page.
Advantages of plastic machining with us
Our plastics processing and plastic machining is geared towards technical requirements, economical manufacturing and industrial areas of application.
Precision and repeat accuracy
With CNC technology, matched tools and material-appropriate processes, we manufacture components with high accuracy for individual parts and series.
Machining according to material and application
Not every plastic behaves the same way during machining. We therefore select processes, cutting parameters and finishing to suit the material, thickness and later purpose of use.
Economical manufacturing
From simple cutting to size through to complex precision parts, we rely on efficient processes in order to keep machining times, material usage and reproducibility in view.
Variety of materials
We machine standard plastics, engineering plastics and high-performance plastics for wear parts, guides, housings, covers and function-relevant components.
Typical areas of application
Our machined plastic parts are used in many industries:
Mechanical and plant engineering
Functional components, sliding components, covers, spacer parts and technical cut pieces for industrial assemblies.
Electrical industry
Insulating components, housing components and technical parts with defined dimensional and material requirements.
