scratch-resistant coating
Applying a scratch-resistant coating to clear and opaque plastic parts made of polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) by means of a nanocoating based on polysiloxane offers an effective method for increasing the hardness and thus the scratch resistance of these surfaces.
This process largely preserves the natural transparency of the plastic parts. The coating, which is applied in thicknesses of 2 to 12 µm, is cured either thermally or by UV light. After this surface treatment, the plastic surfaces can even successfully pass the test with 0000 steel wool.
