FKM rubber sheet

FKM rubber sheet for the most demanding applications: resistant to heat, oil and aggressive media. Select the appropriate thickness and enquire directly.

FKM sheets are made of fluoro rubber and are suitable for applications with high chemical, thermal and mechanical requirements. They are used wherever standard elastomers such as NBR or EPDM reach their limits.

Typical areas of application are mechanical and plant engineering, the chemical and process industry, and applications with permanent contact with oils, fuels or aggressive media. FKM sheets reliably retain their material properties even at elevated temperatures and under continuous load.

Martan Gummi's range includes FKM sheets in various thicknesses and qualities, and they are frequently used as cut pieces or semi-finished products for further-processing operations. Compared with other rubber sheets, the focus with FKM is less on cost and more on functional reliability.

Technical properties of FKM sheets

FKM sheets are characterised by a combination of high media resistance and temperature stability. These properties make the material suitable for permanently loaded industrial applications.

Temperature and ageing resistance

FKM retains its elasticity across a wide temperature range. Even under prolonged thermal load, the material structure remains stable, which facilitates use in hot environments.

Chemical resistance

The material offers very high resistance to oils, fuels, greases and many solvents and chemicals. This makes FKM suitable for applications with permanent media contact, for example in hydraulic, chemical or process plants.

Mechanical properties

FKM sheets have good compression set stability and a constant Shore hardness. These properties support consistent function in sealing, covering or insulation tasks.

Within the range of rubber sheets, FKM is one of the technically most capable elastomers for demanding operating conditions.

Applications of FKM sheets in industry

FKM sheets are used where high temperatures, aggressive media or permanently demanding ambient conditions are present. The material is particularly suitable for safety-relevant and long-lasting applications.

Mechanical and plant engineering

In machines and technical plants, FKM sheets are used as sealing, separating or insulating material. They withstand oils, lubricants and elevated operating temperatures on a permanent basis.

Chemical and process industry

FKM is suitable for applications with contact with fuels, solvents or chemical media. Typical fields of use are linings, covers or technical interlayers.

Automotive and vehicle engineering

In vehicle engineering, FKM sheets are used, among other things, for components in the engine compartment or in fuel-carrying systems where temperature and media resistance are crucial.

Sealing and cut-piece applications

FKM sheets frequently serve as the starting material for individually manufactured seals. In combination with precise cut pieces, components are created for applications in which FKM seals must function reliably on a permanent basis, for example in conjunction with FKM seals.

FKM sheets compared with other rubber materials

FKM sheets are among the most capable elastomers in industrial use. The material is selected specifically when temperature and media requirements are above the usual level.

FKM and NBR

NBR sheets are suitable for many oil- and fuel-containing applications in the moderate temperature range. FKM sheets significantly extend this application range and are used at higher temperatures and with more aggressive media. In demanding industrial environments, FKM offers greater long-term stability than NBR rubber sheets.

FKM and EPDM

EPDM sheets are frequently used outdoors or where water and weather influence are present. FKM sheets focus more strongly on chemical resistance and thermal load capacity. As a result, FKM is suitable for applications in which media contact and temperature play a central role, while EPDM rubber sheets cover other priorities.

Economic classification

FKM sheets are preferably used when process reliability, service life and resistance are decisive. The material complements the range of technical rubber sheets for clearly defined high-performance applications.

Delivery forms and cut pieces of FKM sheets

FKM sheets are available in various thicknesses and dimensions and are suitable as semi-finished products for numerous industrial applications. They are frequently selected and further processed on a project-specific basis.

Sheet formats and thicknesses

FKM sheets are available in different thicknesses in order to cover various technical requirements. Depending on the application, thin sheets are used for sealing or separating layers, as well as thicker versions for covers or protective applications.

Cut pieces to size

In many applications, FKM sheets are required as cut pieces to exact dimensions. These serve as the starting material for seals, inserts or technical moulded parts. Dimensionally accurate cut pieces support precise integration into existing assemblies and systems.

Further processing

FKM sheets can be punched, cut or waterjet machined. This makes them suitable for the production of individual components, for example for industrial sealing systems or special technical applications. FKM is used particularly in the production of rubber cut pieces when high resistance is required.

Selection guide for FKM sheets

The selection of an FKM sheet depends on the specific operating conditions. Temperature, medium and mechanical load in the respective application are above all decisive.

Temperature range

FKM is suitable for applications with permanently elevated operating temperatures. The planned temperature range determines the suitable material quality and sheet thickness.

Media contact

In contact with oils, fuels, greases or chemical substances, FKM offers high resistance. The type, concentration and duration of media contact should be taken into account during selection.

Mechanical requirements

Pressure load, Shore hardness and dimensional stability influence the function of the FKM sheet. These factors are particularly relevant for sealing and supporting applications.

Dimensions and cut

Sheet thickness and cut shape are based on the intended installation situation. For technically precise applications, individual cut pieces are frequently used, which can be derived from the available range of rubber sheets.

Frequently asked questions about FKM sheets

What is an FKM sheet?

An FKM sheet is made of fluoro rubber and is suitable for applications with high requirements for temperature and media resistance.

What are FKM sheets used for?

FKM sheets are used in mechanical engineering, in the chemical and process industry, and in fuel- and oil-loaded applications.

Are FKM sheets suitable for high temperatures?

FKM retains its material properties even at permanently elevated temperatures and is suitable for thermally loaded areas of application.

Can FKM sheets be cut to size?

FKM sheets can be cut to size precisely and frequently serve as the starting material for individual components or seals.

When is FKM the right choice?

FKM is suitable when media resistance, temperature stability and a long service life are the priority. Alternative rubber sheets are available for other requirements.
