Connection technology
Joining technology plays a decisive role in the manufacture of assemblies. Assemblies are a combination of joined components that together fulfil a function. This connection can be achieved in various ways, depending on the requirements and the materials of the components.
There is a wide variety of joining processes that can be used to connect components to one another. Welding, screwing, adhesive bonding, riveting and soldering are just a few examples of common techniques. Each of these processes has its own advantages and disadvantages with regard to strength, cost, manufacturing precision and scope of application.
Welding is a frequently used process that joins metals by fusing them under heat and pressure. Screwing provides a detachable connection and is ideal for assemblies that must be regularly maintained or modified.
Adhesive bonding is often used for components that cannot be joined by mechanical processes or in order to obtain a seamless surface. Riveting and soldering are also popular methods for producing permanent connections between components.
