Type wheel embossing
Type-wheel embossing is a comparatively rarely used embossing process that is employed in the manufacture of plastic parts. It is distinguished by its specific method, in which lettering is embossed into the plastic part with the aid of a type wheel. What is special about this process is that the embossed characters have a particularly clear and precise typeface.
A characteristic disadvantage of this process, however, is that the type wheel can carry only a limited number of characters on its circumferential surface. This limitation means that type wheels generally have to be custom-made for specific projects. This restricts the universal applicability of the process, as it is not suitable for a broad range of applications.
