Series production
Series production is a type of manufacturing that aims to produce identical products in limited quantities simultaneously or consecutively. This process enables efficient production, as the same tools, machines and workflows can be used for each unit.
Depending on the number of units produced, series production can be divided into different categories, with the batch size playing a decisive role.
Small-series production takes place when fewer than 20 units are produced per month. At this stage, the production processes can often be adapted flexibly to meet specific requirements.
Medium-series production covers the production of 20 to 1000 units per month. This stage requires somewhat greater standardisation of processes to ensure continuous production, but remains flexible enough to respond to changed requirements.
Large-series production refers to the manufacture of more than 1000 units per month. In this area, the focus is on maximising efficiency and reducing the production costs per unit. Specialised production lines and automation technologies are often used to ensure a high production rate with consistent quality.
