Slide
Slides are extremely important components in moulds, especially when it comes to demoulding undercuts that do not lie in the main demoulding direction. These movable contour elements make it possible to produce complex shapes that would otherwise be difficult or even impossible to manufacture.
In general, slides are preferably actuated mechanically, typically by angled pull pins. These pins move during the opening of the mould and allow the slides to reach the correct position in order to demould the undercuts. Although this mechanical method is quite simple, it is extremely effective.
However, there is also the option of hydraulic sliding by means of double-acting cylinders. Although this method is more involved in terms of design and implementation, it offers additional design freedom. With hydraulic sliding, more complex movements and shape changes can be realised, which is particularly advantageous in demanding moulding processes.
