Friction welding
Friction welding is an innovative joining process that creates a firm connection between two components. It is used with both metals and thermoplastic plastics and offers a range of advantages in terms of strength and efficiency.
The process of friction welding involves moving two workpieces, which are firmly clamped, relative to each other. The application of pressure and movement creates friction between the surfaces to be joined, which leads to their heating. This heating finally reaches the melting temperature, causing the interfaces to become viscous.
In this viscous state, the workpieces are brought into position and the contact pressure is increased to ensure a firm connection. During cooling, the molten areas solidify, creating a permanent connection. This process enables precise control of the welding parameters and results in a high-quality connection without additional joining materials.
