Pin-point gate
Pin gates play a decisive role in injection moulds. They are small gates that usually have a diameter of up to 0.75 mm. These tiny cuts serve to guide the material into the mould and to enable the injection moulding process.
The advantage of pin gates lies in their minimal effect on the end product. They leave only a tiny, point-shaped gate vestige on the finished injection-moulded part, which facilitates post-processing. Due to their small size, pin gates can be removed easily, often simply by breaking them off. This property makes them particularly attractive for applications in which a precise and clean surface of the end product is crucial.
