Polishing

Polishing is a highly precise finishing process used to smooth and refine the surfaces of plastic parts or moulds. This process plays an important role in the manufacture of components where a smooth and often glossy surface is required in order to meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.

During polishing, in particular gloss grinding, a small amount of the material is removed. This removal is necessary in order to reduce the roughness of the surface structure and achieve a smoother surface. The degree of smoothness and the gloss of the polished surface can vary depending on the type of material. With some materials, polishing can achieve a mirror-smooth and glossy surface, which not only improves the appearance but can also optimise material properties such as corrosion resistance and cleanability.
