Plastic flame spraying
Plastic flame spraying is a fascinating thermal coating process that can be applied to both metal parts and plastic parts. In this process, a polymer layer is applied to the desired substrate.
The process begins with the creation of a protective cushion of compressed air. Within this cushion, polymer powder is used, which is then heated by a short acetylene-oxygen flame. This heat melts the plastic particles and turns them into small plastic droplets. These droplets are then blown specifically onto the substrate, where they solidify due to the lower temperature of the substrate.
Through contact with the substrate and the subsequent cooling, the droplets become a homogeneous layer that bonds firmly to the substrate. The droplets spread evenly over the surface and their flattening creates a closed and smooth surface.
