Tracking resistance
Tracking resistance (CTI) is crucial for insulating materials. The CTI value, measured in volts, indicates how well a material resists tracking. A test solution simulates contaminants, and the CTI value specifies the highest test voltage at which no tracking occurs.
The CTI-M value tightens the test conditions for more aggressive contaminants. Additives such as colour pigments can affect tracking resistance; dark colours normally worsen it, while light colours can improve it.
