Infrared welding
Infrared welding is an advanced technique for joining plastic parts. This method uses the energy of short-wave (0.78–2 µm) and medium-wave (2–4 µm) infrared light to fuse the plastic parts to be joined together.
The specific spectral range of the infrared radiation is selected according to the absorption capacity of the plastic material used. This means that different plastics react differently to infrared radiation and therefore require a specific range of this radiation in order to be welded effectively.
