Extrusion
Extrusion is a process in which thermoplastic plastics are continuously extruded into precision profiles or semi-finished products.
In screw extrusion, the moulding compound is drawn into a plasticising unit, melted and homogenised to produce profiles and semi-finished products. The melt is guided through an extrusion die into the desired shape and then calibrated, cooled, hauled off, sawn and rolled up.
High-molecular materials that cannot be plasticised in a screw machine are processed by means of ram extrusion. In this process, powdered material is sintered under heat and pressure by being pressed into the sintering tool by a pulsating ram piston. Sintering takes place under high pressures of around 800 bar.
