reinforced plastics
Reinforced plastics use an innovative technology by integrating special reinforcements in the form of microfibres and micro-bodies made from materials such as glass, carbon (C), minerals and others into the plastic. These reinforcements give the material improved rigidity, higher mechanical strength and better heat resistance, which is particularly advantageous in components subject to high mechanical stress.
The plastic matrix plays a decisive role here by distributing the loads acting on the component evenly across the reinforcing materials. This creates a synergistic interaction between the individual material components, resulting in an overall system that combines the strengths of both the plastics and the reinforcements and therefore has optimised mechanical properties.
