Vacuum casting
Vacuum casting is an extremely efficient and modern method for producing small pre-production runs of functional models from polyurethane, usually in the range of 5 to 20 pieces.
The process often begins with the creation of a master model, which is frequently manufactured using modern techniques such as stereolithography. This master model serves as the starting point for the production of a silicone mould. This mould is created precisely to the contours and details of the master model in order to enable an exact reproduction.
Once the silicone mould is completed, the polyurethane resin is poured into the cavities of the mould. The use of vacuum technology ensures that the resin flows evenly and without air pockets into the mould. This guarantees high quality and precision of the cast parts.
After the polyurethane has cured in the mould, the parts are carefully removed and further processed as required to meet the desired specifications. This process makes it possible to produce prototypes and small series of high-quality functional models cost-effectively and quickly, which is of great advantage particularly for product development and prototype construction.
