ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene
Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene, or PE-UHMW for short, is a form of polyethylene characterised by an extremely high molecular weight. This outstanding property gives it remarkable wear resistance, particularly in the sand-slurry test, a test method that measures the resistance of materials to abrasive substances such as sand and slurry. This exceptional wear resistance makes PE-UHMW a preferred material for applications where high abrasion resistance is required.
Due to its excellent mechanical properties and chemical resistance, PE-UHMW is frequently used in the lining of silos, chutes and other industrial installations. These applications benefit from the durability and the ability of the material to minimise wear caused by continuous stress.
By using PE-UHMW, companies can extend maintenance intervals and reduce operating costs, since the material has a long service life even under demanding conditions.
