Transmission
Transmission is a physical quantity that describes the permeability of a material, in particular a plastic part, to waves. These waves can be of various natures, such as sound waves or electromagnetic waves. Transmission indicates how much of the incident wave passes through the material.
The type of material and the wavelength of the incident wave play a decisive role here. A high transmission value means that a large part of the wave can penetrate the material, while a low value indicates that the material largely absorbs or reflects the wave.
In practice, transmission is often used to assess the properties of materials with regard to their transparency or opacity.
