Torsional strength
Torsional strength describes the resistance of an elongated plastic body to twisting or torsion. This mechanical property indicates the level of torsional load, also known as torsional moment, that the plastic part can withstand before it fails.
In other words, torsional strength is a measure of the material's load-bearing capacity in relation to rotational forces acting along the longitudinal axis. If the applied rotational force loads the material beyond its torsional strength, the plastic part will be structurally damaged or will break. The precise determination of torsional strength is crucial for the design and application of plastics in areas where they are exposed to rotational forces.
