Masterbatch
Scattering masterbatches are special additives used in plastics to create different refractive indices within the material. By adding these masterbatches, transparent plastic parts that originally have a uniform refractive index can be transformed into translucent moulded parts.
This results in a silky-matt halo effect created by the varying refraction of light. Specifically, this means that the light is scattered and refracted differently, giving the plastics a unique, matt appearance. As a result, they can not only appear more aesthetically pleasing, but also offer specific functional properties such as diffuse light scattering and glare reduction.
This makes scattering masterbatches particularly useful in applications where even light distribution and reduced transparency are desired, such as in lighting solutions or decorative surfaces.
