Batch production
Batch production is a type of manufacturing that focuses on the mass production of related products in different variants. In contrast to one-off production, batch production involves manufacturing similar products in larger quantities one after another on the same production facility.
It is therefore a form of mass production, but one characterised by its differentiated nature. This type of manufacturing can often be difficult to distinguish from series production. A characteristic feature of batch production is that the number of units produced is limited.
This is because a changeover to the production of another variant regularly takes place. This makes it possible to manufacture a wide variety of products on the same production line, which ensures flexibility and efficiency in manufacturing.
