Silicone moulds
Silicone moulds are extremely useful when it comes to producing small pre-production runs of 5 to 20 pieces quickly and cost-effectively.
The process begins with the creation of a master model. Various techniques such as stereolithography, laser sintering or milling are used for this. These make it possible to create precise and detailed models that serve as the basis for the silicone mould.
Once the master model has been completed, masking tape is used to define the parting plane for the two halves of the silicone mould. The master model is then fixed in a casting frame, which is subsequently filled with silicone. This step ensures that the silicone is distributed evenly around the master model.
After the silicone has cured, the casting frame is removed. The silicone is then cut open precisely along the parting plane in order to separate the two halves of the silicone mould. The master model can then be carefully removed from the mould, and the silicone mould is ready for the production of castings.
