Carbon black
Carbon black, a fascinating material, of deep black colour and a fascinating chemical composition, is produced as the result of incomplete combustion of organic substances. It reveals itself as a fine powder that consists predominantly of carbon, but also contains a multitude of other fascinating constituents.
In its dark, almost mystical appearance, carbon black harbours a history of formation, a complex chemistry and a diversity of applications that range from industrial production through to modern art. It is a by-product that is born in the shadow of the flame, but at the same time has an impressive presence in various areas of our lives.
