Polymer wood
Polymer wood is an innovative material in which wood is modified by introducing monomers and then polymerising them. It is wood and laminated wood that is impregnated with monomers and then polymerised in order to improve the properties of the wood. This process leads to increased resistance to moisture, pests and wear, which makes polymer wood particularly attractive for various areas of application.
However, due to technological progress and the development of thermoplastics, polymer wood is increasingly limited to specific fields of application. Modern thermoplastics often offer even better properties with regard to durability and flexibility and are therefore preferred in many areas. This means that polymer wood is mainly used in niche applications or where the aesthetic and ecological advantages of wood continue to be valued.
