Polycondensation
Polycondensation is a chemical process in which simpler chemical compounds, known as monomers, are linked together to form larger, polymer-like molecules, which are also referred to as macromolecules. This linking process is accompanied by the elimination of water or other small molecules.
The resulting substance, the polycondensate, initially forms as a melt. In this molten state, the substance is further processed by drawing thin strands from the melt. These strands are then cooled and granulated, that is, they are broken down into small, uniform pieces that are easier to handle and process further.
