Surface finishing
Surface finishing covers a range of processes aimed at improving the visual appearance and/or the technical properties of workpiece surfaces. These treatments can influence both the aesthetic appearance and the functionality of the parts.
The main processes for surface finishing of plastic parts include painting, printing, coating, planing, grinding, embossing, polishing and matting. These techniques are used to adjust the surface texture, remove scratches, add colour and patterns, or prepare the surface for further processing steps.
For plastic surfaces, finishing is often carried out indirectly by grinding, polishing or coating the contour-forming walls in the mould. This enables precise control of the surface structure and quality during the manufacturing process itself, resulting in high-quality end products.
