Socket
A sleeve is a straight connecting part with a continuous bore. Media-carrying sleeves have sealing surfaces and connect hoses, pipes, fittings or cables. The connection is made by screwing, clamping, pressing, welding, bonding or a combination of these joining techniques.
If pipe sleeves come into contact with the conveyed medium, the fittings must be permanently resistant to it. Threaded sleeves have an internal thread throughout. They are used to connect two workpieces with the same external thread, e.g. threaded rods, and have no sealing surfaces.
Threaded sleeves can have stop surfaces in the centre. A reducer is used to connect different threads.
