MoS2
Molybdenum disulfide, also known as MoS2, is a chemical compound consisting of molybdenum and sulfur. The formula MoS2 indicates that for every molybdenum atom there are two sulfur atoms. This structure gives MoS2 a range of fascinating properties that make it an important material in various applications.
MoS2 is known for its lubricating ability and is often used in lubricants to reduce friction and wear in mechanical systems. It is also used in electronics, in particular in the manufacture of transistors and other electronic components, due to its semiconducting properties.
The unique crystalline structure of MoS2 also makes it a promising material for various other applications, including catalysts, batteries and even in research in the field of nanotechnology.
