Assembly injection moulding
Assembly injection moulding represents an advanced form of multi-component injection moulding. Its main aim is to produce movable composites within an injection moulding process, for example hinges.
Within this technique, the movability of the components relative to one another is achieved by deliberately exploiting the incompatibility of different plastics. In contrast to conventional multi-component injection moulding, in which a material bond is sought, assembly injection moulding creates a connection through form fit. Here, the components interlock due to their different material properties, thus creating a stable, movable structure.
