Laser transmission welding

Laser transmission welding is a highly advanced joining process for plastic parts that enables a single-stage method through the use of laser light. The energy required to plasticise the plastics is supplied here by focused laser light.

A decisive characteristic of this process is the differing material property of the plastic parts to be joined. One of the parts to be joined must have a high transparency to the laser light, while the other part must be laser-absorbing. This creates a targeted interaction between the laser beam and the plastics, which ensures precise and efficient welding.
