Lapping
Lapping is a precision machining process used to produce highly accurate and finely finished surfaces. In this process, a workpiece is brought into contact with an abrasive paste or an abrasive medium and moved over a special backing. This removes or minimises unevenness and microstructures on the surface of the workpiece.
The lapping process is extremely precise and requires careful control and monitoring to achieve the desired results. It is frequently used in the manufacture of components for machines, engines, precision instruments and optical devices, where a high surface quality and dimensional accuracy are required.
