Creep
Creep is a physical phenomenon that describes the slow and plastic deformation of a material under a constant load. This deformation occurs over time and is often dependent on temperature. An important parameter for characterising creep behaviour is the tensile creep modulus.
Particular attention must be paid to the creep tendency of thermosets, especially in the design and dimensioning of components made from rigid polyurethane foams (PUR-RIF). These materials show a tendency to creep even at room temperature and under the action of normal forces, which must be taken into account in the design.
