Contraction

Contraction refers to the process of reducing the volume at a constant mass. This reduction in volume usually occurs due to increased physical pressure or a decrease in temperature. A well-known example of this is shrinkage, which occurs during the solidification process of casting materials. During this process, the material contracts, which leads to volume contraction.
