Hydrophilicity
Hydrophilicity refers to the property of surfaces that possess a surface energy which causes water to spread on them with a contact angle of approximately 0°. These surfaces have a natural affinity for water.
If we take a closer look at hydrophilic surfaces, we find that they are typically covered by a thin film of water, which is often invisible to the naked eye. This property allows the water to distribute evenly over the surface without beading or running off.
