heteropolar compound
A heteropolar compound is a special type of chemical compound in which electrons transfer from one atom to another. This transfer of electrons is crucial for the cohesion of the molecule, which is based on electrostatic attraction. In other words: the positively charged atomic nuclei attract the negatively charged electrons, which causes the molecule to remain stable.
In contrast to this are homopolar compounds, in which the electrons are distributed evenly between the atoms and thus no permanent charge separation occurs. This difference in electron distribution makes heteropolar compounds particularly interesting, as they often exhibit characteristic chemical and physical properties.
