Thermosets
Thermosets, also known as thermosetting plastics, are plastics that cure through a chemical reaction and form a strong, irreversible network of macromolecules. Unlike thermoplastics, they cannot be melted, retain their strength at high temperatures and are heat-resistant.
Typical thermosets are phenolic resins, melamine resins, polyurethanes and surface coatings. They are characterised by hardness, rigidity, dimensional stability and favourable fire behaviour.
