Ductile fracture behaviour
Ductile fracture behaviour, also known as yielding fracture, occurs in unreinforced plastics and is characterised by parameters such as yield stress (σS) and elongation at break (εR). In contrast, reinforced plastics exhibit brittle fracture behaviour, which is characterised by tensile strength (σR) and elongation at break (εR). Further information on the mechanical properties of thermoplastics and thermosets can be found in our data sheet collection.
