Design to Cost

Design to Cost is an approach to developing cost-effective products, based on the fact that manufacturing costs are mainly determined in the concept phase. As development progresses, cost changes become more difficult and the effort required for product changes increases disproportionately. Design to Cost is therefore applied already in the concept phase.
